Thank you for the Happy Birthdays, and I’m glad the PDF has been well-received so far. It’s not revolutionary or anything like that, but it was fun to write and it’s an approach that works well.

Why when I was just a boy there was no such thing as a friendly web site dedicated to making life easier for the GM. There was just the Dungeon Master’s Guide prototype version which had nothing but Gygax’s phone number in it and that was disconnected. So you would call Gary and there would be no answer, and you would cry and say “Boo hoo! No one wants to help me GM!” But that’s the way it was and we liked it!!!

Thanks, Jeff! Nifelhein: The topic has come up on TT before, but I've never covered group character creation in a start-to-finish way. Here are some related chargen posts: Approaches to Character Creation: A List Collaborative PC Creation? Help Your Players Hone their PCs During Chargen That last one covers a lot of the same points as the PDF, and goes into greater detail on the final two steps. It's not the whole picture, though, and that's what I was aiming for here. In retrospect, I probably should have linked to that post in the PDF -- d'oh! The second one got the mental ball rolling, and the first one's just sort of related.
