I first encoutered it with Penny Arcade's satirical "Epic Legends of the Hierarchs: The Elemenstor Saga" wiki, and I haven't found another free wiki site since that looks as professional out-of-the-box, so to speak. I should say, the wiki a really success with <i>me</i>; putting everything together in a cross-referenced database like this helps cement the world in my own head. So far I don't know how much help it's bringing my players, since we're only two sessions in. I’ve been using pbwiki (http://pbwiki.com/) to great success for my first experience GMing.
