thanks for doing this interview, i had hear a little about burning wheel, not enough to have a real opinion about it. but this interview convinced me that i needed to buy it. well, this one and the Have Games, Will Travel podcast.

I am now that proud owner of book #1194.

While I will not kill off our current Arcana Evolved game anytime soon.. the idea's in BW have changed my DM thinking. I have had lots of WOW moments, I will recommend BW just for that.

Buzz: Yep! The young woman was one of my best friends, Stef, with her daughter Zoe. Two of my other close friends, Darren and Matt (Stef's husband) were also in that event. :)

Martin, was it the session that started at 8pm or so on, um Saturday night? There was a young woman in the game who brought her infant daughter that slept through the whole event. :)

I wonder if we were in the same "Nest of Webs" session, Buzz -- I played the boss rat's chief kidnapper. That was a fun event.

Great interview.

I played in the "Nest of Webs" at GenCon Indy this year, and it was pretty amazing; not what I was expecting at all.

Of course, I'm pretty sure I was the turtle (I played the rat king's brother and secret cult leader). :) The event was pretty much a LARP, and I had zero experience with LARPing. Thankfully, I still had fun.

As for not letting players "give you bullshit" about trying new systems... IME, that's a great way to get people to not show up... well, at least with my two D&D groups. My HERO group will alway err ont he side of HERO, but are willing to try other games if I run them (and, especially, if they are not D&D).

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! :)

Over on the Forge, Adam Dray has posted a discussion of the scenario mentioned in this interview ("The Gift") and his experience with it: The Gift at MACE 2005.

He discusses it in relation to some of the things that Luke and I brought up here, and it's an interesting read.

Thanks for the interview; AIM style flowed well-- it was clearly a interview.

Strangely, I just met Luke in person a little over a week ago, at GenCon SoCal. He wasn't running a demo, but the intensity was still there. (It was the last day-- I'd already missed him twice in the first two days while he was at seminars.) I can "hear" him in the interview-- great job.

I would imagine the interview will flow better over AIM.

Whatever you did for this interview, keep on keepin' on. It was fantastic.

Interesting interview Martin, thank you.

I personally prefer the AIM interviews, they seem more "interview".
